Festival DasArts Daily Amsterdam
DasArts Daily is a festival camp
aign for the DasArts Foundation,
De Amsterdamse School/Advanced
Research in Theatre and dance St
udies.
The DasArts Daily festival took
place from June 14th to 18th 200
5 at the Theatre Frascati in Ams
terdam. The event was held to gr
ant insight into the daily work
of the institute, showing a cros
s-section from the recent past t
o the present day with performan
ces, shows, exhibitions, lecture
s and films.
It was the first time DasArts Da
ily was staged, so the campaign'
s goal was to promote the festiv
al's independent artistic status
, in particular as it had to com
pete with the famous Holland Fes
tival.
The stripes are modeled on the s
pecial design of security tape,
a warning sign that is mainly us
ed for safety reasons in regard
to festival stages, building sit
es, danger areas and crime scene
s. It is an alarm signal, callin
g attention to potential hazards
, construction sites and intelle
ctual laboratories.
The concept is simple: black and
white diagonal stripes, forming
an abstract arrow that gives a
trendsetting direction. The stri
pes have a fixed width so combin
ations of various media componen
ts like e.g. posters, folders an
d beer mats are conceivable.
It is a systematic approach that
reflects the organic structure
of design and searches for the b
est "all-out-of-one" solution.
